Requirements:
A manual transmission motorcycle
A slight incline or a friend to help push (optional but helpful)
A battery that’s low but not completely dead (the ignition and fuel system must still work)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Turn the Key On
Make sure the ignition is ON.
Ensure the kill switch is set to "Run".
If your bike has a fuel valve, open it.
2. Put the Bike in 2nd Gear
Second gear is preferred—it reduces wheel lock-up compared to 1st gear.
3. Pull in the Clutch
Hold the clutch in all the way.
4. Start Pushing
Begin pushing the motorcycle manually or with help. Aim for at least 5–10 mph (8–16 km/h).
If you’re on a hill, let gravity help.
5. Pop the Clutch
Once you’ve got enough speed, quickly release the clutch while giving a slight twist of the throttle.
The engine should turn over and start.
6. Pull the Clutch In Again
As soon as the engine starts, pull the clutch back in to prevent stalling.
7. Keep It Running
Rev the engine slightly and keep it running to recharge the battery.
